§02Certified vs uncertified
Not all fire door installers are equal.
Anyone can hang a fire door. Third-party certification is how you know it was done properly. Typical differences are below.
| Criterion | Typical uncertified installer | Q-Mark certified |
|---|---|---|
| Work independently audited | No | Yes |
| Certified installs labelled | Rarely | Yes |
| Certificate issued for installations | Varies | Yes |
| Operative competence assessed | Self-declared | Assessed by the scheme |
| Records an assessor will accept | Inconsistent | Door-by-door |
