§06FAQ
Common questions
How often do our fire doors need inspecting?
It depends on the building. In England, residential buildings over 11 metres need quarterly checks of communal fire doors and best-endeavours annual checks of flat entrance doors. For other premises, guidance generally recommends at least six-monthly inspections. Use our compliance checker for a quick steer.
Can you fix faults on the same visit?
Many common faults — closer adjustment, small gap corrections, replacement seals — can be put right during the inspection. Anything larger is quoted separately before we start.
What records do we get?
A door-by-door report showing condition, faults found, work carried out and anything still outstanding — the evidence you need to show you're meeting your duties.
